--shit's supposed to record my voice? Why the fuck would I want to leave a message on this thing anyway? They should know who the fuck they're calling if they're calling me in the first place, and obviously I'm not gonna pick up if I don't like them so...
What do you mean it's already recording?

[Considering just how many squids he has, this might not be an exaggeration.]
It looks so adorably dumb! I mean it's just living magma! How fucking awesome is that? Oh, but you probably couldn't let it out in the house or it'd burn everything...
[...Wait, that's not the point.]
Go catch it! I wanna watch this shit.
no subject
Alright! Be super careful, okay Lucky? I think any water type attacks might either scare it away or knock it out completely...so use Razor Wind!
[The Floatzel grunts and takes a few light steps forward, his twin tails starting to glow a little as he prepares the attack.
Meanwhile, the Slugma seems to have caught on to what's happening, its body flaring a bit more brightly in the gloom. For a moment it doesn't seem to do anything but glare at Lucky, the surface of its body still bubbling hotly as the ground grows ever more singed where it sits.
Then, suddenly, it takes a deep breath and expands, exhaling the moment Razor Wind is unleashed. Jimmy barely has enough time to lift an arm to cover his eyes as a massive cloud of thick, dark Smog billows forward, enveloping the attack, both Pokemon, Jimmy, and the Gear until everything is black. A loud crack sounds where the attack strikes the pillar the Slugma was next to, just over the sound of Jimmy coughing.]
no subject
Jimmy! Hey, Jimmy!! Are you okay!? What the fuck's going on there!?
no subject
[There's another round of coughing as he tries to wave the smog away from his face, sounding distant.
It takes another moment for the dark smoke to finally start to clear, revealing Jimmy covered in a fine layer of soot that shook off of the struck beam. His Floatzel seems to have taken the brunt of the attack, doubled over slightly from the affects of poison.
Just across the way the Slugma still sits where it was a moment ago, looking rather dazed after the attack collided with that beam. In the short pause that follows, Jimmy lobs his Pokeball at the fire type, which bounces off of its head and splits open. A second later it disappears inside with the usual flash of light.
It hits the ground and shakes three times before growing still.]
no subject
Ah-- You got it! You've got it!! Good job!!
no subject
[Jimmy manages after coughing a few more times, the rest of the smog finally clearing away as he steps over to retrieve the pokeball, laughing breathlessly.]
Oh, hah!- I did!
[He's quick to make his way back over to where he left his Gear so he can pick it up, sliding down into a sitting position on the floor so he can start to rummage through his bag.]
C'mere Lucky, I've got an antidote in here somewhere.
[The Floatzel huffs but walks over as he's bid, flopping down onto the floor with his head in his paws and his tail wrapped around his legs. While he looks for the medicine he talks, grinning even though his face is smudged with soot.]
I'll let it back out so we can get a closer look once I get Lucky here treated...but I didn't think I'd be able to catch it so easy! Maybe it's cause it's pretty low leveled...I mean, Lucky's all maxed out by now.

[Jimmy eventually fishes out the antidote and starts applying it to Lucky with his free hand while tossing the pokeball up in the air with his other.
The Slugma reappears a moment later, now just a foot or two shy of Jimmy's shoes. Up close it really is just a pile of magma with eyes, little bits of flame flicking off its body as it looks up at the Gear. If it's annoyed by being captured it doesn't seem to show it at all. In fact, it's more curious now than anything, now that it doesn't look like the water type is going to attack anymore.]
Now I just gotta think of a name for it.
no subject
[HE'S REALLY BAD AT THIS]
You're so lucky! So uh... where are you?
no subject
[HE ISN'T ANY BETTER, HONESTLY.]
And I'm in Ecruteak right now, at the Burned Tower! I knew it had a lot of Pokemon in it, but nothing like this one.
[The Slugma just continues to watch silently, not really making any noise or...doing anything, really.]
no subject
[With jelly. Lots of jelly.]
Ecruteak, that sounds vaguely familiar... Oh, that's the town north of Goldenrod, right? Maybe I'll have to check it out someday. I mean when it's less shitty traveling weather. And if I can drag someone with me. I'm sure as hell not going out on the routes alone!
no subject
[Jimmy asks the Slugma once he's finished with Lucky, turning around to face the Pokemon directly. It stares up at him for a long second before blinking slowly.]
...I'm just gonna take that as a yes!
And you totally should! I'm traveling with a friend right now so it makes it a whole lot easier, for sure.
[He will convince you to travel if it's the last thing he does.]
no subject
Yeah, I'll definitely think about it. I mean I do want one of those living lava things. What did you say they were called?
[It's so cool, Jimmy.]
no subject
[You have good taste, Naki, because holy crap these things are rad. Jimmy edges a bit closer to the Pokemon as he says that, stopping about a foot away. It's like sitting right next to a campfire, but not quite so intense, somehow.]
I kinda wonder how I'm gonna train it though...I mean, I'm not gonna be able to touch it or anything.
[...]
Though...I know that Ponyta and Rapidash both have fire on them, and if they feel comfortable with you, you can touch them without getting burnt. That's why people can ride on them and stuff. I wonder if that would work with Slugma, too?
[Jimmy had been carrying a Cyndaquil around on his shoulder for several weeks before he evolved, after all, and he never did set him on fire. ...though he did have some close calls.]
no subject
[He'll probably have to ask again in two minutes. Sorry!]
Oh yeah, maybe it'll just... I dunno, turn the fire off or whatever it is they do. I mean that thing's like made of fire so I'm not sure how well it'll work. You might wanna try wearing gloves first. Just in case.
no subject
Yeah, I prolly will. It seems friendly though, so that's good. Right...Toast?
[Jimmy asks the Pokemon, grinning as it stares at him for a long moment before blinking, letting out something of a gurgle in response.]
You know, this means I'm gonna have like...eight fire type Pokemon now.
no subject
[NAKI DON'T BRAG ABOUT THAT]
Well, five of 'em are Inkays and the other two are Malamars-- wait, hang on, that's not eight, who am I missing?
[NAKI]
...Well, the point is that that's a lot of Fire-types!
no subject
Yeah, it's really good to have so many in the winter time!
[As he talks he reaches into his bag and fishes out a pokepuff, putting it on the floor in front of the Slugma. The Pokemon eyes the pastry curiously for a moment before lowering his head, more...enveloping the thing with it than actually eating it like any other Pokemon might.]
But if you don't have any yet, you should totally try to get one of these guys.
no subject
I've got Bone, she's a Houndoom now. She's kind of a snob so I dunno if she'd ever keep me warm if I needed it. Not that I do, I mean I try to avoid going outside when it's too cold. Unless I really need cake.
[In other words, he's outside a lot.
Naki grins at the Slugma engulfing that puff, laughing loudly for a moment.]
Holy shit, that thing's great! You picked a real winner there!
[He's not being sarcastic either...]
no subject
Oh, well that's good! I've got a Houndoom too and he's really great.
[Jimmy adjusts the Gear in his hands now that the area is totally clear of smog and things have calmed down a bit, leaning back against the pillar he sat down next to.]
I hope I didn't bother you calling, by the way! I was just exploring this tower and thought you might wanna see this little guy.
no subject
[He always likes seeing new Pokémon, especially ones that are entertaining. As long as he doesn't get as obsessed with Slugmas as he is with the Inkays we'll be fine!!]
no subject
It really is great, isn't it? I can't wait to see if he'll evolve into something different!
no subject
Yeah! I'm sure he'll be really cool if he does evolve! I can't imagine how he could get any cooler but-- oh, wait, not cooler, we don't want him to freeze or anything.
