[It's lacking any of the anger that was there last time though and while it's not pleading, it's getting pretty close.

Naki doesn't do well with loss and he's not about to lose anyone else close to him. He really doesn't want to lose Mettaton, especially not to something like that.]

[What he does then is a little on the awkward side, but that doesn't stop him from doing it; he just...reaches out and kind of pets Naki's head a little, the result landing somewhere between a headpat and stroking his hair properly and yet managing to actually do exactly neither.

[That gets him to freeze up for about half a second before he relaxes into it and sort of... headbumps Mettaton's hand like an enthusiastic cat. He seems to realize what he's doing quickly however, because he looks sort of mortified when he pulls back.]

There's nothing wrong with being a ghost. But for some reason everyone seems to think "ghoul" and "ghost" mean the same thing. Or "ghoul" and "zombie". I'm definitely not a fucking zombie, that's fucking gross.

They're monsters just like everyone else, sweetheart, and our bodies are very deeply connected to our souls. Once our bodies die, our souls won't last, either.

So dead people sticking around in any form, ghost or otherwise, isn't possible for us.

My world's closer to this one, we have ghost stories and shit. But obviously we don't have Ghost-type Pokémon, so it's just... people-ghosts. And they're not real.

So what...are you, exactly, if you're not a zombie or a ghost?

A ghoul. We look like humans, but we're way stronger and faster and we've got a kagune that we can use as a weapon. It's uh... a part of our body? Mine's...

[He pauses, trying to think of how to describe it.]

Can I borrow your book? I can draw it.

[He'll just...pass that over, then, and move to settle back next to him again.]

[Naki gets to work, taking a moment to figure out how to draw it. His art's definitely not great, but it's good enough to get the point across. He draws a basic outline of a person from the back, showing where the kagune would come from and what it would look like before moving on to a brief sketch of how it would look from the front. He also draws what his eyes would look like while he explains.]

When we use it, our eyes turn black like this. The colored part is always red, which obviously doesn't matter for me, since my eyes are always red. Oh, and everyone has a different kagune, this is just what mine looks like. It's a koukaku type, so it's supposed to be good for shielding, but I don't bother with that.

[His isn't really suited for serving as a shield anyway, it's a bit too thin for that.]

That sounds amazing, darling! I don't think we have anything similar to that in the Underground - we all have magic, of course, and sometimes monsters' eyes will change when they use it...but we don't really have physical weapons like that.

So really, I've never seen anything like it - and it's not often that people get to hear me say something like that. So feel flattered!

I really miss it sometimes. I still try to use it when I'm not really thinking about it. But I guess that's pretty normal, it's been a part of me forever, so it'll take longer than a year to stop doing that.
